It's been a long time since i've drawing anything other than my own characters for my own stories. I find that I honor my favorite shows and series in more subtle and complex ways with my own work, but sometimes it feels good to just draw something that is a reaction to a show you watched. Over the past few days i've been catching up on Haibane Renmei, or 'charcoal feather federation', the most recent show from Yoshitoshi Abe (Lain, Nia under 7). I dunno, but there is something about this show that really grabs me, and I can't put my finger on it. It's bizarre, but yet everyday, quiet, moody... it doesn't leave you with clear thoughts about it - which is probably why i like it so much. I was doing some random sketching tonight and this came out. It's not Rekka - tho it looks like a very odd combination of early drawings of Kotone and her - and i quietly named this little charcoal winged angel 'Megeru' - to slip...
